Restaurant Brings Approximately 120 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year
ELKHART, Ind. (Oct. 21, 2024) – The first Chick-fil-A® restaurant in Elkhart will begin serving the community on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Ellie Male as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Elkhart.
Located at 2720 Cassopolis St., Chick-fil-A Elkhart will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, delivery and Mobile Thru, a fully dedicated lane in the drive-thru where Guests can pick up orders placed ahead of time on the Chick-fil-A App®. The restaurant’s dining room will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with the drive-thru open until 10 p.m.
The Chick-fil-A Elkhart restaurant joins five other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider South Bend-Elkhart market.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
In Elkhart, Ellie Male will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 120 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Elkhart community’s needs.
Born and raised in suburbs of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Ellie’s earliest memories of Chick-fil-A are from family road trips to Florida, when she would enjoy hand-spun milkshakes. When the first
Chick-fil-A opened in Grand Rapids in 2017, she began her journey with the company as a Team Member.
“What I thought was a great job to help me pay my way through college ultimately defined my career,” she shared. At the restaurant opening, Ellie recalls a memorable conversation in which someone shared that, while we may not know where the Guest is coming from or going, every interaction is a chance to create a remarkable experience. This inspiring message about the opportunity to show genuine care and hospitality left a lasting impression, and ultimately motivated Ellie to pursue the path of being selected as a local Owner-Operator.
“When I first started serving as a Team Member, I had no idea how much Chick-fil-A would positively impact my life. Some of my greatest memories are at Chick-fil-A. It’s where I met my husband Tyler, built lifelong friendships and have pursued my dream of serving as a small business owner,” Ellie Male expressed. “We are excited to now call Elkhart home for our family, and we look forward to creating a welcoming environment where the entire community can come together, enjoy a delicious meal and create their own special memories at our restaurant.”

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Food Bank of Northern Indiana, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.
Ellie Male’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 30 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,200 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In addition, Chick-fil-A Elkhart is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Elkhart area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
