Restaurant Brings Approximately 140 Jobs to Community, Chick-fil-A Celebrates Opening with $25,000 Donation to Feeding America

LATHROP, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2025) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Lathrop community on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Emily Martin as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Lathrop Marketplace.

Located at 16608 Golden Valley Pkwy., Chick-fil-A Lathrop Marketplace will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, third-party delivery and Mobile Thru from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with the drive-thru remaining open until 11 p.m.

The Lathrop Marketplace restaurant joins 15 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto market.

Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local
Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.

In Lathrop, Emily will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 140 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Lathrop community’s needs.

Emily, a proud Sacramento native, began her Chick-fil-A journey while in high school, working at her hometown’s Chick-fil-A restaurant. Over the years, she worked diligently to master every role from Team Member to Director of Operations, all while balancing her responsibilities as a student. During her time at Sacramento State University, Emily was honored with two Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures™ Scholarships.

In 2022, Emily’s dedication and leadership were recognized when she was accepted into the
Chick-fil-A® Leadership Development Program. Over two transformative years, she gained invaluable experience by working at 16 different restaurants across the country. In 2024, she achieved a career milestone by being selected as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Lathrop Marketplace.

Reflecting on her experience as a Team Member, Emily shared: “As a former Team Member, I understand the commitment it takes for an Operator to develop and lead a team while providing pathways for personal and professional growth. I’m deeply grateful for the care and support my former Operators showed me, and I’m excited to be that same source of encouragement and inspiration for my future Team.”

Just a short drive from where she grew up, Emily is thrilled to be back in the area she calls home to serve the community she loves.

“Chick-fil-A has brought so much joy into my life throughout my career, and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible community,” Emily shared. “My vision for this restaurant is to spread joy to everyone we encounter, just as I’ve experienced throughout my Chick-fil-A journey.”

Caring for the Lathrop Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Second Harvest of the Greater Valley, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.

Emily’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. The restaurant is excited to partner with Hope Family Shelters for this program. To date, more than 35 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,300 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.

In addition, Chick-fil-A Lathrop Marketplace is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Lathrop area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.

Team Member Investment
Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators strive to hire, develop and retain top talent, helping future leaders optimize their skills and providing pathways for personal and professional development in a welcoming, purpose-driven environment. A career at Chick-fil-A offers a wide range of benefits, including hands-on training and mentoring, competitive pay and benefits, the chance to apply for scholarships to support continued education, and the flexibility to thrive in and outside of work. Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are committed to preparing their team for the future, wherever it may lead. To learn more about careers at Chick-fil-A, click here.
