Cows eat free on opening day at Chick-fil-A University Plaza
NEWARK, Del. (March 27, 2025) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant is ready to serve Newark when it opens on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, with Luke Trader serving as the local Owner-Operator. The new restaurant brings approximately 125 jobs to the community.
To celebrate the restaurant moo-ving into town, Trader and his team are inviting the community to show off their cow spots at the restaurant on opening day for one free entrée*!
Whether it’s a full cow suit or a simple cow-spotted accessory, Guests of all ages are encouraged to join the fun. The celebration takes place on opening day, offering the community a chance to celebrate the iconic Chick-fil-A Cows seen in TV commercials and on billboards. Guests dressed in cow attire can redeem the offer of one free entrée inside the restaurant or in the drive-thru.
Located at 954 Christiana Bypass next to University Plaza Shopping Center, Chick-fil-A University Plaza will serve Guests Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, catering and Mobile Thru.

- Participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, which redirects surplus food to local nonprofits, helping to create over 35 million meals nationwide to date.
- Celebrating the opening with a $25,000 donation from Chick-fil-A, Inc. to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to the Food Bank of Delaware to aid in the fight against hunger.
- Partnering with local organizations including UrbanPromise, Family Hope Coalition and Foster Well to further their efforts in supporting youth in the community.
