Where was Chick-fil-A's first restaurant?
Truett Cathy founded and opened the first Chick-fil-A® restaurant in 1967 in Atlanta’s Greenbriar Mall, one of the first indoor malls in the southeast. At the time, the original Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich was sold for 59 cents and Team Members wore ascots, candy-striped aprons and “soda jerk” hats and ties. The restaurant was only 384 square feet (roughly the size of a two-car garage) and was a pioneer in the modern-day food court.
Chick-fil-A Greenbriar Mall proudly served the Atlanta community for more than 56 years. The restaurant closed in May 2023, but its legacy and influence can be seen and felt at the more than 2,800 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
