Restaurant Brings Approximately 120 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Aug. 31, 2023) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Grand Rapids community on Thursday, Sept. 7. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Todd Shane as the independent franchised Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Alpine Avenue.
Located at 3461 Alpine Ave. NW, Chick-fil-A Alpine Avenue will be open for dine-in, drive-thru and carry-out from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and drive-thru only from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Guests of Chick-fil-A Alpine Avenue can place an order for pickup or dine-in on the Chick-fil-A® App or online. When joining the Chick-fil-A One® tiered membership program, guests receive points on every qualifying purchase which can be used to redeem available rewards. The Alpine Avenue restaurant joins ten other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Grand Rapids market.

In Grand Rapids, Shane will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 120 full- and part-time Team Members, serving guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses.
Shane is no stranger to Grand Rapids as he was born just five miles from the Alpine Avenue restaurant at Spectrum Health Butterworth. He is very proud of his Grand Rapids roots – Shane grew up in the community and attended high school and college in the greater Grand Rapids area. His early career at a large furniture manufacturing company took Shane to Atlanta, Georgia, where he was introduced to Chick-fil-A and became deeply inspired by its emphasis on kindness, service and caring for others. In 2019, Shane returned to the Midwest to become an Operator of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in the suburbs of Chicago. Now, Shane could not be more excited for the homecoming opportunity to serve in the Operator role once again: a dream-come-true in his hometown.
“I was immediately drawn to Chick-fil-A’s focus on creating a culture of care. The first time I visited the headquarters and heard the Corporate Purpose, I immediately wrote it down on a piece of paper and carried it with me until I had it memorized because it resonated so closely,” said Shane. “I’m so thrilled to continue doing what I love, for a company I love, in a place that I love.”
Caring for the Grand Rapids Community
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. will donate $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Grand Rapids area to aid in the fight against hunger.
In addition, Chick-fil-A Alpine Avenue is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Grand Rapids area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
Shane’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® Program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 20 million meals have been served nationwide from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations. Local Michigan Owner/Operators have donated over 139,000 meals, with the number continuing to grow.

Chick-fil-A Operators are committed to hiring, developing and retaining top talent and providing a positive work environment for people of all ages and backgrounds. Team Members have opportunities for flexible work hours and leadership growth, competitive pay and benefits, hands-on training and mentoring and the chance to apply for scholarships to support their continuing education. Qualifying Team Members at Shane’s restaurant will also be eligible for reimbursement of tuition costs up to 33 percent at Grand Rapids Community College, where Shane once attended. To-date, Chick-fil-A has awarded 121 scholarships in the Grand Rapids market totaling over $278,000 to support continued education for its Team Members.
