Restaurant Brings Approximately 100 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year

TULSA, Okla. (April 7, 2025) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Tulsa community on Thursday, April 10. David Chen, current local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Southroads Shopping Center, will also serve as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A 13th & Utica.

Located in Midtown at 1660 East 13th St., Chick-fil-A 13th & Utica will be open for dine-in, carry-out and delivery from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and drive-thru from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The 13th & Utica restaurant joins 18 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Tulsa market.

Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local
Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.

In Tulsa, Chen will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 100 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Tulsa community’s needs.

Selected as one of Oklahoma's 40 under 40 influential leaders, Chen looks forward to deepening his impact in his local community with the opening of Chick-fil-A 13th & Utica, which he will own and operate in addition to his current restaurant, also located in Tulsa’s Midtown neighborhood.

As a first-generation immigrant, Chen was raised with a strong sense of determination and work ethic, following in his father’s footsteps to pursue a degree in chemical engineering. Upon graduation Chen moved to East Asia in pursuit of a career that would allow him to serve and care for others. For two years, he lived and worked there equipping, empowering and encouraging young adults through his role in the non-profit sector. After meeting his now wife, Chen returned to the United States with a newfound passion for leading youth and supporting their development. This, combined with an untapped love for customer service uncovered while attending graduate school in Texas, led him to explore career options with Chick-fil-A. Learning about the company’s values centered on caring for its neighbors, Chen was immediately drawn to the brand and took a job at Chick-fil-A’s Support Center in Atlanta, Ga., where he assisted with local Owner-Operator selection. After five years of helping others realize their dreams, Chen took the leap himself and applied to become a local Owner-Operator, a dream that became a reality in 2015 as he opened the largest Chick-fil-A restaurant in Oklahoma at the time, at Southroads Shopping Center.

“I am so grateful for the strong relationships we’ve built here in Tulsa over the last ten years through Chick-fil-A. Opening this second Restaurant provides a pathway to make an even greater impact on Team Members, Guests and the community,” said Chen. “Whether someone is just stopping by for a delicious meal or looking for a place to restore and refresh, the team at Chick-fil-A 13th & Utica is ready to welcome you with open arms.”

Caring for the Tulsa Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.

Chick-fil-A 13th & Utica will participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. Both of Chen’s restaurants, Chick-fil-A 13th & Utica and Chick-fil-A Southroads Shopping Center, will donate surplus food to the Tulsa Dream Center, a local organization offering after-school tutoring, healthcare and additional equal opportunities for those in need. To date, more than 35 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,300 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.

In addition, Chick-fil-A 13th & Utica is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Tulsa area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
