Restaurant Brings Approximately 130 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes With Free Chick-fil-A Meals for a Year

EMERYVILLE, Calif. (April 21, 2023) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Emeryville community on Thursday, April 27. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected California native Jon Hooper as the independent franchised Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Emeryville, located in the East Bay Bridge Shopping Center at 1525 40th St., Emeryville, CA, 94608.

Chick-fil-A Emeryville will be open for dine-in and carry-out from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Delivery will soon be available. This In-Line restaurant design allows the restaurant company to further customize its dining experience based on the specific location. At 3,750 sq. ft. with an 860 sq. ft. patio, the restaurant will seat 44 guests inside with an additional 26 exterior patio seats for guests to enjoy their meal.

Guests of Chick-fil-A Emeryville can place an order for pickup or dine-in on the Chick-fil-A® App or online. When joining the Chick-fil-A One® tiered membership program, guests receive points on every qualifying purchase which can be used to redeem available rewards.

The Emeryville restaurant joins 21 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Bay Area market.

Locally Owned and Operated
As full-time, hands-on leaders in their restaurants and communities, Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators proudly reside in the areas in which they serve.

In Emeryville, Hooper will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 130 full- and part-time Team Members, serving guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses.

Embodying an entrepreneurial spirit from an early age, Hooper began his journey with Chick-fil-A on his 16th birthday as a Team Member to help pay for college. He started as a dishwasher and went on to work in every position until he was named the General Manager. He then joined the company’s Interim Manager program, where he supported company-owned restaurants on the West Coast. Passionate about pioneering the brand in a new market, Hooper was ready to call California home again. In 2015, he was selected as the Operator of Chick-fil-A Auto Mall Parkway in Fremont, California, where over the past seven years, he has focused on making people feel welcomed and cared for. Now, as he steps into the role as the local Operator of Chick-fil-A Emeryville, he looks forward to providing that same level of excellence to the East Bay community, as well as sharing his heart for service that extends beyond the restaurant’s doors.

“I started working at Chick-fil-A over 20 years ago, and it quickly became my home away from home,” said Hooper.  “As we open Chick-fil-A Emeryville, it’s my hope that this restaurant feels like home for our Team Members, guests and the East Bay community. From our signature hospitality to our local community partnerships, we look forward to the many ways that we can show care for our community, particularly as many guests try us for the first time.”

Outside of the restaurant, Hooper, his two children and partner Gustavo enjoy traveling, cooking, hiking and visiting museums.

Caring for the Community
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. will donate $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Alameda County area to aid in the fight against hunger. Chick-fil-A, Inc. recently donated $15,000 to Emeryville Citizens Assistance Program (ECAP) to assist in their work to meet the basic needs of Emeryville and surrounding areas’ low-income residents.

Additionally, Chick-fil-A Emeryville is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the greater Oakland area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A meals for a year.

Hooper’s restaurant will also be participating in Chick-fil-A Shared Table™, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. When there is surplus food, Chick-fil-A Emeryville will donate it to Berkeley Food & Housing Project. To date, more than 18 million meals have been served nationwide from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations.

Team Member Investment
Chick-fil-A Operators are committed to hiring, developing and retaining top talent and providing a positive work environment for people of all ages and backgrounds. Team Members have opportunities for flexible work hours and leadership growth, competitive pay and benefits, hands-on training and mentoring and the chance to apply for scholarships to support their continuing education.

As a three-time recipient of the Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures™ Scholarship, Hooper is passionate about preparing his Team Members to intentionally approach the scholarship application process.

“From my journey from Team Member to Operator, I am passionate about helping everyone realize and reach their full potential,” adds Hooper. “At our restaurant, we provide individualized coaching for our Team Members to help them submit strong scholarship applications. In addition to education opportunities, it’s my hope that Chick-fil-A Emeryville provides great leadership and job opportunities throughout the East Bay.”

Delicious Food; Outstanding Customer Service
Chick-fil-A is known for creating a welcoming, remarkable restaurant experience, serving customers great-tasting food made with high-quality ingredients, including the original Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich. Made with a real, whole, boneless breast of chicken with no added fillers, the breaded chicken is pressure cooked in fully-refined peanut oil. Chick-fil-A was one of the first in the industry to eliminate chicken raised with antibiotics to ensure guests have an option for high-quality food on the go.

To complement the great-tasting chicken, fresh produce is delivered to Chick-fil-A restaurants up to six times a week for the best quality and flavor. The fresh ingredients are raised and grown by farmers who share the company's elevated quality and safety standards, so guests feel good about their meal.
