Restaurant Brings Approximately 100 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year
EMPORIA, Va. (Dec. 10, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Emporia community on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Jason Riddle as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Emporia.
Located at 201 Market Drive, Chick-fil-A Emporia will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, and catering from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The new restaurant will open at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 12.
The new restaurant joins more than 25 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Richmond-Petersburg market.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
In Emporia, Riddle will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 100 full and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Emporia community’s needs.
Riddle has possessed a heart for service for as long as he can remember. Upon graduating college, he embarked on an 11-year career in ministry, five of which were spent serving communities in Brazil. When it came time to decide on a post-ministry career, Riddle knew he desired a career that would allow him to continue serving others, and he reflected on his experience working at Chick-fil-A in high school. He then began working as a Team Member in Atlanta, learning the ins-and-outs of the
Chick-fil-A business, and spent 18 months honing his leadership skills and supporting Operators across the United States through the Chick-fil-A® Leadership Development Program. He was selected to be the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Southpark in Colonial Heights, Virginia, in 2015, where he served until relocating to Emporia to open the new restaurant.
Now, Riddle is most looking forward to offering a space of care for the Emporia community – and becoming involved in local schools with Chick-fil-A Leader Academy™.
“Showing care for others is a cause close to my heart, and I’ve seen firsthand throughout my career the impact that simply serving Guests with a smile can have,” Riddle said. “I’ve always regarded Team Members and Guests like family, and my wife Kristin and I see Chick-fil-A Emporia as an extension of our own home.”
Caring for the Emporia Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Richmond-Petersburg area to aid in the fight against hunger.
Riddle’s restaurant is participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 30 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,200 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In addition, Chick-fil-A Emporia is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Emporia area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
Team Member Investment
Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators strive to hire, develop and retain top talent, helping future leaders optimize their skills and providing pathways for personal and professional development in a welcoming, purpose-driven environment. A career at Chick-fil-A offers a wide range of benefits, including hands-on training and mentoring, competitive pay and benefits, the chance to apply for scholarships to support continued education, and the flexibility to thrive in and outside of work. Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are committed to preparing their team for the future, wherever it may lead. To learn more about careers at Chick-fil-A, click here.
