Restaurant Brings Approximately 115 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year
FARMINGVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Farmingville community on Thursday, Oct. 17. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Rod Singleton as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Expressway Plaza.
Located at 2280 N. Ocean Ave., Chick-fil-A Expressway Plaza will be open for dine-in, drive-thru and carry-out 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The new restaurant will also offer Mobile Thru, a fully dedicated lane in the drive-thru where Guests can pick up orders placed ahead of time on the Chick-fil-A App®.
The Expressway Plaza restaurant joins nine other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving Long Island.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
In Farmingville, Singleton will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 115 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Farmingville community’s needs.
Singleton has always been deeply committed to service and community. After a 28-year career in the United States Air Force, Singleton sought new opportunities in the private sector, holding leadership roles in the e-commerce industry and working in program management for a private contractor. Desiring a more community-focused career, Singleton began exploring a new chapter with Chick-fil-A, where he was inspired by the commitment to providing exceptional service, leading with care and giving back to the community. With personal ties to the Long Island area through family and friends, Singleton is now thrilled to bring his passion for hospitality and philanthropy to Farmingville, where he plans to become actively involved by supporting public servants and U.S. military veterans.
“Making a positive impact on my community is an important part of my life, and I view Chick-fil-A Expressway Plaza as an extension of my own home,” said Singleton. “My desire is to be the cornerstone of care in the Farmingville community, and my hope is to create a restaurant that not only serves great food, but also provides a welcoming, positive environment for our Guests and Team Members alike.”
Caring for the Farmingville Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education and specific community needs.
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the Long Island area to aid in the fight against hunger.
Singleton’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 30 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,200 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In addition, Chick-fil-A Expressway Plaza is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Farmingville area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
