Restaurant to Bring Approximately 65 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 28, 2022) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant is slated to open for business in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Alan Thompson as the independent franchised Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Ft. Totten. Thompson will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 65 full- and part-time Team Members, cultivating relationships with local organizations and neighboring businesses, and serving guests. Chick-fil-A Ft. Totten is located at 220 Riggs Road NE, Washington, D.C., and will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Chick-fil-A remains committed to serving guests safely. Chick-fil-A Ft. Totten will open for drive-thru, mobile ordering, dine-in and carry-out service, as well as third-party and Chick-fil-A delivery. In place of the traditional Chick-fil-A First 100® Grand Opening celebration, Chick-fil-A Ft. Totten will be surprising 100 local heroes making an impact in the community with free Chick-fil-A for a year. Additionally, in honor of the new restaurant opening, Chick-fil-A will donate $25,000 to Feeding America. The funds will be distributed to partners within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to aid in the fight against hunger.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A Ft. Totten is locally owned and operated by Washington, D.C. native, Alan Thompson. Thompson has served as Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A restaurants since March of 2019, including Chick-fil-A DC USA, located in Columbia Heights. After opening his first Chick-fil-A restaurant, Thompson was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by the National Black MBA Association, Washington, D.C. Chapter. Prior to joining Chick-fil-A, Thompson held multiple positions in the U.S. Navy and Air Force. In the U.S. Navy, he served as a Cryptologic Warfare Officer, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In the U.S. Air Force, Thompson served as a civilian employee of the Air Force in U.S. Cyber Command, located at Fort George G. Meade. He and his family are excited to continue serving the Washington, D.C. community with great food and genuine hospitality.
“My first interaction with Chick-fil-A occurred at a Dedication Dinner in 2015 for Operator Marlon Terrell,” said Thompson. “It was the first time I really saw the culture and operations of Chick-fil-A, and I am extremely grateful to have experienced that culture firsthand as an Operator. As I open another location, I am happy to continue spreading the positive Chick-fil-A culture to the community I was born in, while continuing the growth and development of the D.C. area.”
