In celebration of this restaurant, Chick-fil-A will donate about C$34,000 (US$25,000) to Second Harvest to support local hunger relief, and will bring approximately 80-110 full- and part-time jobs to the area
TORONTO, ON (JULY 16, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Ottawa community of Kanata on Thursday, July 18. Chick-fil-A has selected Ibukun Olubiyi as the independent franchised Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Tanger Ottawa. Located at 3000 Palladium Drive, Stittsville, the restaurant will be open for dine-in, pick-up and drive-thru from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Locally Owned and Operated
As full-time, hands-on leaders in their restaurants and communities, local Chick-fil-A Owner-Operators proudly reside in the areas in which they serve.
In Kanata, Olubiyi will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 80-110 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses.
Olubiyi is no stranger to the community having lived in Ottawa for the past 12 years. As a resident within the city, Olubiyi is looking forward to introducing Chick-fil-A to Ottawa and building strong community connections through employment opportunities, mentoring Team Members and providing great food and hospitality.
Olubiyi’s Chick-fil-A journey started when she was accepted into the Chick-fil-A® Leadership Development Program. During the three-year program, Olubiyi supported more than eight Chick-fil-A restaurant openings across Ontario and the United States, and learned how to operate a successful business and nurture Team Members’ growth and development.
“Upon graduating from McMaster University, I moved to Ottawa to begin my career, and as a new graduate, I was given opportunities to develop my leadership skills by my employer,” said Olubiyi. “I am looking forward to being able to provide similar opportunities for as many people as possible through Chick-fil-A Tanger Ottawa. My vision for the restaurant is to have a positive influence on the City of Ottawa. I am excited to serve great food and show the exceptional hospitality and care that Chick-fil-A is known for to all Guests.”

Impacting the Community
Since 2020, Chick-fil-A has donated about C$2 million (US$1.46 million) to Second Harvest to support local hunger-relief organizations. Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue organization and helps reduce the environmental impact of food waste by redistributing surplus edible food from across the supply chain to non-profits throughout the country. In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A will donate about C$34,000 (US$25,000) to Second Harvest to support local non-profit organizations in the community in the fight against hunger.
Olubiyi’s restaurant will also be participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table™ program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from participating Chick-fil-A restaurants to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and non-profits to help feed those in need. Chick-fil-A Tanger Ottawa will do its part to reduce food waste in its kitchen with a “cook less, more often” approach, reducing the amount of food that goes unserved. When there is surplus food, Chick-fil-A Tanger Ottawa will donate it to a local non-profit organization whenever possible through the Shared Table program.
To date, more than 25 million meals have been created using Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from 2,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout Canada and the U.S.
“I’m looking forward to being a positive impact and giving back to the community,” said Olubiyi. “Participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program is one way we will show care to those in need and an impactful way to address food insecurity.”
Team Member Investment

Those Owner-Operators strive to hire, develop and retain top talent, while providing a great work environment for people of all ages and backgrounds. They also often offer their Team Members opportunities for hands-on training and mentoring, competitive pay and benefits, and the chance to apply for scholarships to support continued education.
