Restaurant Brings Approximately 100 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year 


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 19, 2025) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Knoxville community on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Joseph Turner as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A UT Knoxville Cumberland Ave. 
 
Located at 1659 Cumberland Ave., on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the new Chick-fil-A restaurant will be open for dine-in and carry-out from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Saturday.  
 
The UT Knoxville Cumberland Ave restaurant joins more than 20 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Knoxville market.

Locally Owned and Operated  
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local
Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day. 
 
In Knoxville, Turner will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 100 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Knoxville community’s needs.  
 
A proud Tennessean and University of Tennessee alum, Turner has been with Chick-fil-A for 17 years, where he has served in 25 different restaurant locations across the U.S. The son of a local
Owner-Operator, Turner began working at his father’s restaurant as a Team Member, and after over a decade working in various positions, he joined the Chick-fil-A® Leadership Development Program, where he supported numerous restaurant openings and served as an Interim Manager. After two years in that role, he was selected to be the local Owner-Operator of his own restaurant in Kentucky. Now, three years later, Turner will be returning home to Tennessee to serve as the local Owner-Operator of
Chick-fil-A UT Knoxville Cumberland Ave. Committed to making every Guest feel cared for like family, Turner looks forward to creating a welcoming environment while supporting the Knoxville and University of Tennessee communities.

The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education and specific community needs.  
 
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant. 
 
Turner’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 35 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,300 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.  
 
In addition, Chick-fil-A UT Knoxville Cumberland Ave is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Knoxville area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
