Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year
SALEM, Ore. (June 20, 2023) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Salem community on Thursday, June 22. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Lee Richardson as the independent franchised Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Kuebler Gateway.
Located at 2560 Kuebler Blvd. SE, Chick-fil-A Kuebler Gateway will be open for dine-in, drive-thru and carry-out from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Guests of Chick-fil-A Kuebler Gateway can place an order for pickup or dine-in on the Chick-fil-A® App or online. When joining the Chick-fil-A One® tiered membership program, guests receive points on every qualifying purchase which can be used to redeem available rewards.
The Kuebler Gateway restaurant joins nine other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Portland market.

As full-time, hands-on leaders in their restaurants and communities, Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators proudly reside in the areas in which they serve.
In Salem, Richardson will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 150 full- and part-time Team Members, serving guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses.
Originally hailing from North Carolina, Richardson was first introduced to the brand at six years old by his family. His grandmother worked at a Chick-fil-A as a dining room hostess post-retirement and well into her eighties, living out Chick-fil-A’s signature hospitality in all her guest interactions. She inspired Lee’s dream to become an Operator so he could make a positive impact and serve guests just as she did.
Richardson and his family recently moved to Salem, where his wife grew up just blocks from the new restaurant, so they could get involved in her hometown and make a positive community impact through this new restaurant. Richardson looks forward to opening the doors of Chick-fil-A Kuebler Gateway to the community to enrich the lives of his Team Members and Salem residents by providing a clean and friendly place to both work and enjoy delicious food.
“It’s been said that Salem offers the best of a big city and a small town, so my family and I are eager to plant roots here. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome all the college students, commuters, and Salem residents to Chick-fil-A Kuebler Gateway,” said Richardson. “Chick-fil-A has played such a large role in my life and upbringing. It really means the world to me to be able to open this restaurant and build meaningful relationships in the community with my family by my side.”
Caring for the Salem Community
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. will donate $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Portland area to aid in the fight against hunger.
In addition, Chick-fil-A Kuebler Gateway is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Salem area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
Richardson’s restaurant will plan to participate in Chick-fil-A Shared Table®, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 18 million meals have been served nationwide from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations.
