Chick-fil-A bees create buzzworthy impact

March 4, 2024

Sparkling Blackberry Mint Lemonade

Our lemonade is a customer favorite. Turns out, it's also the perfect base for making your own herbal infusions at home.

Bee-utiful partnership with Bee Downtown supports sustainability efforts

You’ve heard about the Chick-fil-A cows, but do you know about our Chick-fil-A bees?

It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of bees buzz each year around five colorful hives located on our Chick-fil-A Support Center: Buffington campus in Atlanta. Thanks to our partnership with Bee Downtown, we get to help educate our teams and visitors about the vital role honeybees play for our planet.

During 2023, our hives produced more than 300 pounds of honey—a yield 88% higher than Georgia’s state average for honey production. That translates to 1,591 jars of honey, which is often given to new Chick-fil-A, Inc. staff during their onboarding process or shared with other campus guests. The Chick-fil-A bees are active within a 3-mile radius from their hives, including the more than 70 acres of greenspace that we enjoy on our Buffington corporate campus.

Chick-fil-A staff members enjoy the byproducts from our campus pollinators and partnership with Bee Downtown, too. During team engagement events last year, they:

• Rolled beeswax candles
• Enjoyed tastings from our hives
• Built pollinator hotels
• Made sandwich wraps from beeswax
• Participated in on-site and virtual courses to learn more about beekeeping

Chick-fil-A's partnership with Bee Downtown is just one of many ways we demonstrate our corporate social responsibility commitment to care for our planet. But it’s definitely the sweetest.

“Inviting honeybees to be a part of our corporate campus helps us promote environmental stewardship while teaching important lessons about teamwork,” says Teri Hauther, sustainability coordinator for Chick-fil-A. “We’re thrilled to be a part of Bee Downtown’s national movement.”
