Locally Owned and Operated
As full-time, hands-on leaders in their restaurants and communities, Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators proudly reside in the areas in which they serve.
In Shelton, Smith will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 100 full- and part-time Team Members, serving guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses.
An East Coast native, Smith was raised just down the road from Shelton in Trumbull, Connecticut. Smith attended college in the southeast where he first experienced (and fell in love with) Chick-fil-A. He attended law school at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and went on to practice law and raise four children with his wife, Kasie. Weekly visits to Chick-fil-A were a staple in the Smith family during their time living in the Southeast. In 2013, Smith and his family were excited to return to Connecticut, where he became a pastor for Calvary Church in Trumbull. He was honored to serve and care for people in his church and community in the role as pastor. While pastoring, his weekly Chick-fil-A visits continued, and Smith was moved by the company’s community-oriented ethos. He realized being a local Owner-Operator provided a meaningful platform to continue to care for people and communities and began the process of pursuing that role. Now, Smith is confident that as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Shelton, he will be able to give back to the community that raised him and develop leaders who enrich the lives of those they serve.
“Chick-fil-A holds a special place in my heart, and it was a big part of my family’s routine throughout the years. When we moved back to Connecticut, we continued our weekly tradition, even if it meant driving 35 miles each way,” said Smith. “As the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Shelton, I hope to create the same impact on guests that Chick-fil-A has had on my family.”
Caring for the Shelton Community
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Connecticut Foodshare, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurants.
In addition, Chick-fil-A Shelton is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Shelton area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
Smith’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 23 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from nearly 2,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Chick-fil-A, Inc. recently released its first cookbook to raise awareness of food insecurity and the importance of reducing food waste. Entitled “Extra Helpings,” the cookbook is inspired by the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® Program, and features recipes from local nonprofit partners which repurpose Chick-fil-A restaurant food donations to help feed their communities across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canda.

Delicious Food; Outstanding Customer Service
Chick-fil-A is known for creating a welcoming, remarkable restaurant experience, serving customers great-tasting food made with high-quality ingredients, including the original Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich. Made with a real, whole, boneless breast of chicken with no added fillers, the breaded chicken is pressure cooked in fully-refined peanut oil. Chick-fil-A was one of the first in the industry to eliminate chicken raised with antibiotics to ensure guests have an option for high-quality food on the go.
To complement the great-tasting chicken, fresh produce is delivered to Chick-fil-A restaurants up to six times a week for the best quality and flavor. The fresh ingredients are raised and grown by farmers who share the company's elevated quality and safety standards, so guests feel good about their meal.
