Restaurant Brings Approximately 110 full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year
PARAMUS, N.J. (April 25, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Paramus community on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Ray Cowan as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Paramus.
Located at 718 N State Route 17, Chick-fil-A Paramus will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out and third-party delivery from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant will operate drive-thru only from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The Paramus restaurant joins more than 70 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider New York City market.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
In Paramus, Cowan will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 110 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Paramus community’s needs.
Cowan’s growth within Chick-fil-A is the perfect embodiment of building a career from the ground up. He joined the Company more than 20 years ago as a Team Member while in high school and continued to work at the restaurant throughout college. After graduation, Cowan worked as a general manager for eight years at Chick-fil-A Rutherford Crossing in Winchester, Virginia, before entering the Chick-fil-A® Leadership Development Program in 2017. Two years later, he was selected as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Ramsey in nearby Ramsey, New Jersey – which he will continue to operate in addition to the new restaurant.
Opening his second Chick-fil-A restaurant is a full-circle moment for Cowan, and one that fits a passion close to his heart: providing opportunities for his Team Members. He served as a Team Member for local Owner-Operator Chuck Guffee, who operates Chick-fil-A Rutherford Crossing and Chick-fil-A Pleasant Valley Road, when Guffee opened his second restaurant. Cowan attributes many of the opportunities he’s had at Chick-fil-A to the opening of Guffee’s second restaurant and hopes to do the same for this own Team Members at Chick-fil-A Paramus.
“As a Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operator, I’m able to recreate the experiences I had for my own Team Members, and hopefully inspire them along the way,” Cowan said. “My Team Members and I cannot wait to serve more Guests and provide them with an environment of care and community. Paramus has been incredibly welcoming to both Chick-fil-A and, personally, to my family and me. It’s my pleasure to now welcome the community to Chick-fil-A Paramus.”

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Community Foodbank of New Jersey, a Feeding America partner.
Cowan’s restaurant is participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 25 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In addition, Chick-fil-A Paramus is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Paramus area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
