Restaurant Brings Approximately 100 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year

CROWN POINT, Ind. (Sept. 9, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Crown Point community on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Tyler Carter as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Crown Point, marking his second restaurant in the community.

Located at 601 E. 109th Place, Chick-fil-A Crown Point will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, catering pick-up and carry-out from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The Crown Point restaurant joins 49 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland area.

Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.

In Crown Point, Carter will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 100 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Crown Point community’s needs.

Proudly born and raised in Indiana, Carter began his journey with Chick-fil-A serving as a Team Member while attending college in Anderson, Indiana. Throughout his college years, Carter hadn’t initially envisioned restaurant ownership as a career path. However, inspired by a desire to serve and positively influence his community, Carter pursued a career to become a local Owner-Operator and was selected for Chick-fil-A Merrillville in 2011, which he will continue to operate alongside Chick-fil-A Crown Point.

“My family and I cherish the Northwest Indiana community, and I’m thrilled to open a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Crown Point. This opening is especially personal for me because Crown Point is home and holds a special place in my heart,” said Carter. “The past two decades have been incredibly rewarding, serving Guests, empowering Team Members and caring for the community. With our restaurants in Merrillville and Crown Point, we now have an opportunity to double our community impact, which is truly incredible. Reflecting on my experience as a local Owner-Operator, I’m excited to continue serving Guests, both familiar and new, in our communities, and making a lasting impact for many years to come.”

Caring for the Crown Point Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.

Carter’s Merrillville restaurant has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana for the past several years, including donating food and Team Members volunteering for site builds. To further honor this long-standing partnership, Carter nominated Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana for the Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Awards® program. The nonprofit has been named a finalist for a 2025 grant, and community members can vote for the organization in the Chick-fil-A App® through Sept. 30, 2024, to help influence the amount of funding it receives.

For the past five years, Carter’s Merrillville restaurant has proudly sponsored Crown Point High School’s Chick-fil-A Leader Academy™ program, where students participate in Leader Labs, where they learn leadership principles and enact positive change in their community through a capstone Impact Project. Since launching in 2013, the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy™ program has expanded with more than 1,100 participating schools.

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts in the Crown Point area. The funds will be distributed to Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.

Carter’s restaurant is participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 30 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,200 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.

In addition, Chick-fil-A Crown Point is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Crown Point area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.

Team Member Investment
Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators strive to hire, develop and retain top talent, helping future leaders optimize their skills and providing pathways for personal and professional development in a welcoming, purpose-driven environment. A career at Chick-fil-A offers a wide range of benefits, including hands-on training and mentoring, competitive pay and benefits, the chance to apply for scholarships to support continued education, and the flexibility to thrive in and outside of work.

Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are committed to preparing their team for the future, wherever it may lead. Across his two restaurants, Carter aims to cultivate rising stars and empower Team Members through focused leadership development and career growth opportunities.
