Restaurants Collectively Bring Approximately 175 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Greater South Florida area, Honor 200 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year
DEERFIELD BEACH & PLANTATION, Fla. (March 20, 2025) – Two new Chick-fil-A® restaurants will soon be serving the South Florida area, beginning with the opening of Chick-fil-A Deerfield Beach on Thursday, March 27, 2025, and Chick-fil-A University at Sunrise later this spring.
The Deerfield Beach and University at Sunrise restaurants join more than 35 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local
Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Efraim Silva as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Deerfield Beach and Javier Laguna as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A University at Sunrise.
Each local Owner-Operator will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the businesses, including collectively employing approximately 175 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses.
Chick-fil-A Deerfield Beach
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Silva moved to the U.S. at the age of two. Silva’s semi-professional soccer career took him all the way to Madrid, Spain, where he played before returning to the U.S. to attend college in West Palm Beach, Florida.
In 2012, Silva began as a Team Member at Chick-fil-A Okeechobee and the Turnpike. He quickly discovered that working with the Company gave him an opportunity to continue his passion for developing young leaders.
In 2016, Silva was selected as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Pompano Beach, which he will continue operating alongside this new restaurant. For the past 10 years, he’s been committed to creating unforgettable memories for every Team Member and every Guest. Silva is now excited to expand that impact with the opening of Chick-fil-A Deerfield Beach, where is focused on bringing excellent service and genuine care to the community.
To further enhance service and the Guest experience, Chick-fil-A Pompano Beach will temporarily close beginning March 22, 2025 to rebuild the restaurant. It is scheduled to reopen in summer 2025, pending any delays.
“Chick-fil-A has given me an incredible opportunity to grow professionally, and I’m grateful to be able to do the same for my Team Members across both restaurants,” said Silva. “We strive to be a purpose-driven organization, and I’m excited to bring this same energy and care to the Deerfield Beach community.”

Chick-fil-A University at Sunrise
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Laguna moved to the U.S. when he was 20. He began his journey with Chick-fil-A in 1996 when he joined as a Team Member. After several years of learning the ins and outs of the business, he further developed his leadership, setting his sights on becoming a local
Owner-Operator. That dream became a reality in 2000 when he was selected as the local
Owner-Operator of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Utah.
He spent four years serving there before relocating to South Florida. Since 2004, Laguna has served as a local Owner-Operator at several Chick-fil-A restaurants across Broward County, deepening his connections with Guests and the greater community. Laguna is excited to continue serving the community and growing a true family business, with his sons working alongside him.
“When I shook Truett’s hand, I made a commitment to be a good steward of what he built, and that promise still guides me today,” said Laguna. “This new restaurant is another opportunity to uphold that legacy—serving our Guests with care, supporting our Team Members, and making a positive impact in the community—all while sharing this journey with my family.”
Caring for the South Florida Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.
In celebration of the openings, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated a combined $50,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Feeding South Florida, a Feeding America partner.
In addition, Chick-fil-A Deerfield Beach and Chick-fil-A University at Sunrise are each recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the South Florida area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
Team Member Investment
Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators strive to hire, develop and retain top talent, helping future leaders optimize their skills and providing pathways for personal and professional development in a welcoming, purpose-driven environment. A career at Chick-fil-A offers a wide range of benefits, including hands-on training and mentoring, competitive pay and benefits, the chance to apply for scholarships to support continued education, and the flexibility to thrive in and outside of work.
